MULTISECTOR EMERGENCY SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITIES IN SINDH

Background: Shifa foundation is currently implementing Multisector emergency support flood affected communities of Sindh- Khairpur & Qambar Shahdad Kot.

This project will provide critical assistance to vulnerable households affected by torrential rains and flash floods in Sindh. The emergency response is designed to address the most urgent multisectoral needs of the targeted communities through an integrated approach, which incorporates urgently needed response of nutrition, health & MHPSS (Mental health and psychosocial support).

Key activities to be performed:

• Diagnosis, treatment and follow ups of general medical conditions among the whole population, such as fever, diarrhea, ARI, Skin infections, scabies, malaria, type 2 DM, Hypertension, eye infections, typhoid etc. This includes the Integrated Management of Child Illness (IMCI) as well as PHC for patients above 5 years
• General dressing and bandaging
• First aid for traumatic injuries
• Rapid diagnostic test (Malaria, Blood Glucose etc.)
• ANC including IFA supplementation/PNC and referral for delivery at health facility level. Provision of Safe Delivery Kit to referral patient.
• Health and hygiene sessions
• IYCF-E (Infant and Young Child Feeding) counselling
• Psychological First Aid and referral for MHPSS (Mental health and psychosocial support)
• Referral for complicated cases to relevant health care facility.

Deliverables:

• Provision of mobile medical camps to the flood/rain affected communities at Khairpur & Qambar Shahdad Kot.
• Develop Mobilization strategies to create knowledge and awareness at community level of IYCF-E (Infant and Young Child Feeding).
