Background:

The Shifa Foundation has been assigned a significant responsibility in the collaborative effort to implement the Benazir Nashonuma Program (BNP) across 13 key districts in Punjab. These districts include Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock, Nankana, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, and Jhelum. The Foundation’s role is critical in ensuring that the program’s objectives are met effectively. Their task involves not only overseeing the delivery of the program’s initiatives but also ensuring that these interventions are carried out efficiently and reach their intended beneficiaries. This role places the Shifa Foundation at the forefront of a significant effort to improve health and nutrition within these communities

Key points to be covered:

  • Promote understanding of maternal, infant, and young child nutrition, health, and hygiene practices, as well as the importance of consuming nutritious foods.
  • Deliver specialized nutritional support to mothers and children.
  • Conduct regular growth monitoring, immunizations, and antenatal and postnatal care services.
  • Offer conditional cash stipends, alongside Kalafat’s unconditional cash transfers, throughout the critical first 1000 days of life.

Deliverables:

  • Establish and maintain fully functional Facilitation Centers based on the BISP delivery model.
  • Develop and make available Social Maps of the area at the centers.
  • Develop and implement work plans in accordance with the SBCC strategy.
  • Engage community healthcare workers to raise awareness among BISP beneficiaries, conduct follow-ups, and implement SBCC initiatives.
  • Outline a supply chain management mechanism.
  • Develop and maintain a data management system aligned with the WFP system.
  • Establish a compliance mechanism system.
  • Compile monthly/quarterly consumption figures.
  • Generate reports on supply management, realistic projections, and stock status on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare progress reports for all project activities according to the requirements and timeline set by WFP.
  • Ensure the implementation of Social Mobilization and SBCC for enhanced outreach and awareness.
  • Supervise the distribution of SNF to beneficiaries, ensuring proper monitoring and providing support to beneficiaries for complaints/feedback regarding cash deductions.
