Shifa Foundation has played a pivotal role in advancing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services across Pakistan, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to safe water, improved sanitation, and hygiene awareness. Over the past three decades, Shifa Foundation has implemented multiple WASH programs in both humanitarian and development contexts, particularly in areas affected by floods, droughts, and displacement. By combining infrastructure development with community engagement, Shifa Foundation has reduced waterborne diseases, improved hygiene practices, and promoted environmental health, thereby contributing to sustainable community well-being.

Shifa Foundation’s WASH interventions have been implemented across Punjab, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with a strong focus on drought and flood-affected districts. Key areas include:

PUNJAB: Chakwal.
SINDH: Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Badin, and Sujawal.
GILGIT-BALTISTAN: Skardu.

Scale & Value of WASH Program

Shifa Foundation's WASH portfolio comprises over 20 projects implemented between 2013 and 2025, with a cumulative value of more than PKR 632.51 million. The scale of these projects demonstrates Shifa Foundation’s capacity to deliver both emergency WASH responses (safe drinking water, sanitation kits, and hygiene promotion) and long-term developmental programs including safe water supply schemes, sanitation infrastructure, and community-led hygiene initiatives.
