Menstrual Hygiene Day, celebrated on May 28th, is a global platform dedicated to raise awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene management (MHM) for women and girls around the world. This day underscores the critical need for awareness, resources, and supportive policies that empower women to manage their menstruation safely and with dignity. At Shifa Foundation, we are proud to be at the forefront of this movement through our comprehensive Menstrual hygiene management program, which has transformed the lives of thousands of women and girls.
Menstrual hygiene is fundamental to the health, well-being, and empowerment of women across communities. Yet, in many areas of our country, menstruation remains a subject shrouded in myths and misconceptions. This lack of awareness and open dialogue can lead to significant health risks, including infections and other reproductive health issues. Moreover, inadequate menstrual hygiene management can severely impact a girl’s education, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.
Shifa Foundation is the part of the national Menstrual hygiene management forum and working group. Shifa Foundation has multiple Menstrual hygiene management master trainer at head office level. Shifa Foundation has conducted multiple Training of trainers for field staff one in district Umerkot and other at district Sanghar. Currently Shifa Foundation is implementing Menstrual hygiene management project for a drought-affected population of district Umerkot funded by UNICEF. Shifa Foundation also integrated Menstrual hygiene management activities in Saaf Suthro Sindh project in district Sanghar.
Since its inception, Shifa Foundation’s Menstrual hygiene management program has reached thousands of women and girls across various communities. Our initiative has improved knowledge about menstrual health, and a significant reduction in menstrual-related health issues.
As we celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day, Shifa Foundation remains committed to expanding our Menstrual hygiene management program to reach even more women and girls in communities.
Join us in our mission to promote menstrual hygiene and empower women. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
