300 households benefit from Shifa Foundation's water hand pumps

Shifa Foundation has installed more than 40 water hand pumps, from October to December 2017, in the drought affected districts of Umerkot, Sanghar and Jamshoro – Thar Desert region. These hand pumps are providing water to about 300 households, benefitting more than 45000 people. Earlier, the people of these areas used to spend 4-6 hours on average to fetch 50-60 liters of water from dug-wells, which was not fit for drinking. Now, they are able to get sufficient quantity of clean and safe drinking water through these hand pumps near their homes. Shifa Foundation is committed to install 50 more hand pumps in Sindh in 2018.
