150 SAPLINGS PLANTED AT JINNAH SUPER MARKET, ISLAMABAD

Shifa Foundation in collaboration with Traders Welfare Association of Jinnah Super Market F-7, Islamabad organized a tree plantation activity at the market with an aim towards a greener and climate resilient Islamabad.

More than 30 volunteers, which included students from Bahria University Islamabad, employees of Eco Adventure Foundation and volunteers of Shifa Foundation, took part in this environment friendly activity.

Together, these volunteers planted more than 150 trees near the shops and parking areas in the market.

“Shifa Foundation aims to plant 1000 trees this spring season to decrease the effect of deforestation on climate change in Islamabad. More than 500 trees have already been planted by engaging students from universities. We are planning to extend our climate friendly activities throughout the country in near future”, stated Mr. Farhan Ayub, a volunteer of Shifa Foundation.

He said that the purpose of engaging students in tree plantation is to inculcate the respect for nature and the importance of greenery in our young generation. He further added that Shifa Foundation is very active in community development interventions, particularly related to healthcare, nutrition, water sanitation and hygiene, climate change, disaster risk reduction, livelihood and women and child rights.
