Shifa Foundation has received tremendous feedback on its Covid-19 Response Ramadan Appeal Naiki Ko Unlock Karo from all over the globe. Within two weeks of launcing the campaign, Shifa Foundation raised Rs.12.88 million in donations from across globe.
It is also pertinent to mention here that all donations were raised from “no-touch-methods” using online transactions. The donations were received from Canada, USA, Sweden, United Kingdom and Europe. The response from people in Pakistan for the Ramadan Appeal is also overwhelming.
The primary focus of the Ramadan Appeal was to raise 5000 food packages for the daily wagers across Pakistani metropolis. Shifa Foundation also wanted to provide clean water facilities to the residents of Thar desert who, in absence of water, were exposed to Covid-19. Similarly, Shifa Foundation was raising funds for the lifesaving surgeries of deserving patients. These patients, amid current situation, were being ignored and became more vulnerable to get infected from Covid-19.
The distribution of Food Packages had also been initiated. By the time of writing this article, more than 14,000 people had benefitted from the distribution of Food Packages. By the end of this Ramadan 20,000 more people will get benefitted from Food for Daily Wagers campaign. The distributions were carried out by keeping social distancing the top priority. The staff and volunteers were practicing standards issued by World Health Organization (WHO) in letter and spirit. They used Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while making food packages and during distribution. The hands of all beneficiaries were being sanitised as they arrive to pick up the food package.
Moreover, as many as twelve celebrities in Pakistan – including country’s top journalists, models and showbiz celebrities. The celebrities who, on voluntarily basis, supported the campaign include Bushra Ansari (TV/Film Actor), Imran Abbas (TV/Film Actor & Model), Irshad Bhatti (journalists and analyst Geo News), Beenish Saleem (anchor Neo News), Urooj Raza Sayyami (anchor Bol News), Soha Afzal (anchor Neo News), Nadia Mirza (anchor PTV News), Saqib Tanveer (journalist Independent), Dr Sundus Mustaqeem (host FM-101), Aiman Chaudhry (anchor Neo News) and Tooba Ansari (TV Actor).
Apart from celebrities, there are also university and college students from across Pakistan who are supporting the Naiki Ko Unlock Karo campaign. They are advocating for the cause and helping Shifa Foundation reach to the masses.
Ultimately, with the support of kind donors and associates, Shifa Foundation is spreading kindness in Pakistan during this Ramadan. Eventually this would definitely lead to curb Covid-19 pandemic real soon.
