SHIFA FOUNDATION AT A GLANCE

Shifa Foundation is the sister organization of Shifa International Hospital and one of the most well-reputed not-for-profit organizations, established in 1991. In the early 1990s’, a group of medical consultants with philanthropic and development professionals laid the foundation of the Shifa Foundation which was later on formally registered as a non-governmental and Non-Profit National Organization in 1991 under the Societies Act of 1860 bearing Registration NO. RS/ICT/142 of 1991. Shifa Foundation aims to serve underprivileged communities and unserved people based on the principles of mutual respect, devoid of all kinds of discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, gender, or any other social or political identities.

Since its existence, Shifa Foundation has endeavored to provide assistance to the underprivileged and needy people across Pakistan in preventive & curative healthcare, water & sanitation, environment and climate change, disaster emergency response and to promote voluntary services in educational institutions. It has developed a deep understanding of the complex needs of people in the most deprived areas of Pakistan and has also gained technical expertise in sustainable solutions to address these needs. Shifa Foundation, by using its experiences and research, has also advocated and influenced policymakers and practitioners for the development of marginalized segments of our country. During the past 29 years, Shifa Foundation has assisted more than 8 million individuals in different thematic and geographical areas of Pakistan.

Shifa Foundation is accredited and certified by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) and Economic Affairs Division (EAD) and their services are valued by partners and funding agencies. It aims to create an enabling environment for deprived children, women, families, and underprivileged communities to realize their fundamental rights to health, education, livelihood, and citizenship with dignity.
