1.      The Cataract Surgery Campaign 1.1.   Background Pakistan has a population of 230 million. It has become increasingly difficult for the limited number of doctors and health facilities to cater to the needs of patients. According to the Planning and Development Division, at present, there are only 274,994 registered doctors in the country. FOR EVERY 1,206 PEOPLE, THERE IS JUST 1 DOCTOR. Moreover, the unavailability of health facilities in far-flung areas leaves many patients untreated and their diseases undiagnosed. People avoid going to hospitals for treatment and more eye checkups due to poverty and lack of means of transport resulting in loss of sight and deaths from preventable and treatable diseases. Food Package Distribution in Rawalpindi Islamabad & Murree

INTRODUCTION Shifa Foundation is national-level welfare and humanitarian organization that provides assistance to needy people in terms of healthcare/ treatment services, health awareness, food assistance, and clean drinking water supply. Shifa Foundation remains in contact with its stakeholders to identify needy communities and meet their urgent and long-term needs by engaging donors. BENEFICARY SELECTION CRITERIA Shifa Foundation carried out a rapid assessment in RWP/ISB & Murree. The assessment aimed to identify the neediest people for food assistance. The local elders were also identified as the neediest people in their community for food assistance. The assessment team visited different parts of the community to meet the identified those people and to assess their economic condition before registering them. Shifa Foundation is a not-for-profit organization working for the alleviation of human suffering in different regions of Pakistan. We have been awarded accreditation & certification from the Pakistan Centre of Philanthropy for compliance with desired applicable requirements and meeting of certification standards in the areas of Internal Governance, Financial Management & Program Delivery above the 90th percentile. Shifa Foundation provides free medical services to people who cannot afford it. The organization is a sister concern of Shifa International Hospitals and enjoys well-trained staff and senior doctors providing healthcare facilities to underprivileged communities. Moreover, in 2017 Shifa Foundation successfully initiated a project for the treatment of cancer patients and to date has provided treatment and assistance to over 65 patients with estimated spending of over 25 million through our generous donors.
