INTRODUCTION
Shifa Foundation is national-level welfare and humanitarian organization that provides assistance to needy people in terms of healthcare/ treatment services, health awareness, food assistance, and clean drinking water supply. Shifa Foundation remains in contact with its stakeholders to identify needy communities and meet their urgent and long-term needs by engaging donors.
BENEFICARY SELECTION CRITERIA
Shifa Foundation carried out a rapid assessment in RWP/ISB & Murree. The assessment aimed to identify the neediest people for food assistance. The local elders were also identified as the neediest people in their community for food assistance. The assessment team visited different parts of the community to meet the identified those people and to assess their economic condition before registering them. The standard criteria of the Shifa Foundation were used for the identification and registration of needy families.
DETAIL OF FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Shifa Foundation always sends one of its staff to facilitate the distribution process to ensure that all food packages are transported safely and delivered to the registered beneficiaries. The following staff of the Shifa Foundation facilitated the food distribution:
- Syed Shahab (Fundraising Coordinator) for RWP/ISB
- Wajid Khan (Fundraising Associate) & Nadeem for Murree
- Center of Philanthropy and Community Services (COPCS)
The staff is responsible for;
- Inspection of the food items
- Proper packaging at the CSD Store
- Transportation of packages to the destination
- Verification of beneficiaries and delivery of packages
Food Distribution was carried out on 2nd April 2023. Food packages were distributed among 40 families of RWP/ISB and 60 families of Murree. While identifying beneficiaries’ priority was given to widows, special persons, the elderly, and divorced women.
Food Package Details
Shifa Foundation distributes a standard food package with specific quantity and quality of food items; however, it also takes feedback from the beneficiaries for changes in the food items, if required so. The details of items distributed in these areas are mentioned below.
