Head and Neck Cancer - Shifa Foundation US

Head and Neck Cancer

Head and Neck Cancer Care is an initiative by Shifa Foundation to help non-affording and deserving patients with head and neck cancers.

Your donations can help us save a patient with head and neck cancer.

Head and Neck cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers (up to 18 %) in our country. This is because of the risk factors and low socio-economic status of our developing country. Its prevalence is increasing in younger age groups. Due to lack of awareness, majority of these present in their late stages. Their management includes surgical modalities, non-surgical modalities like chemotherapy and radiation and sometimes both modalities.

Challenges

Our challenges not only include effective management of these cases but also support these patients whilst they face the horrible news and the treatment effects. We also sometimes end up arranging resources for their treatment as they cannot afford such treatments. There are times where patients are either denied treatment at good centres or get sub-standard treatment due to lack of ability to self-fund.
Your donations can save their life!

We are grateful for Shifa Foundation to help us in treating such patients. They have negotiated rates in which surgeons and other stakeholders have waived off their fees and hospital charges are subsidized. Remaining costs are provided by Head and Neck Cancer Care.

Head and Neck Cancer Care is a part of Shifa Foundation that is helping us provide quality care and treatment to non-affording, deserving patients having head and neck cancers. This is funded by your donations; Zakat and Sadqaat.

Services provided:

Surgical and non-surgical treatment for head and neck cancers
This would not only include surgical or non-surgical treatment but also investigation cost if patient cannot afford and fulfills eligibility criteria.

Head and neck cancer support groups (pre and post treatment)
Most of these patients go through surgeries where essential organs for speaking and swallowing are either removed or altered. So these patients require a lot of support post-operatively to train them physically and psychologically so that they can again become a part of our society.
