Shifa Foundation is a registered non-governmental, non-profitable and volunteer organization based in Islamabad and stretched across the map of Pakistan with its regional offices spread nationwide. For the last 20 years, Shifa Family, which includes Shifa International Hospital, Shifa School of Medicine, Shifa School of Nursing, Tameer-e-Millat Foundation, Pakistan Kidney Institute and Shifa Foundation is providing state of the art services in health, education and development sectors and assume a leading role in Humanitarian Sector.

Shifa Foundation has been playing an active role in emergency relief activities, early recovery and rehabilitation. Shifa has been able to bring a substantial difference in the lives of ailing communities though its multi-dimensional services and indigenous interventions. Shifa Foundation with the support of its sister organizations is providing state of the art services in health, education and development sectors with a mission to address the unmet needs of the most affected, marginalized and underdeveloped communities in Pakistan.

In order to respond to the unprecedented post disaster needs in emergencies, early recoveries and rehabilitation phases, Shifa has always gone an extra mile in designing and deploying its specialized interventions which stress on revitalizing and strengthening the services of its various departments of government of Pakistan with Health on top of the list. Shifa Foundation has been undertaking the tasks of strengthening the healthcare delivery system and facilities with target on outreach which are virtually inaccessible, exhibit alarming indicators, and are considered the point of healthcare delivery where even in peace, the conditions portray emergency situation and existence of life is itself a miracle.

Shifa deploys its medical teams to hard hit and affected areas and establishes the DEWS reporting mechanism in order to support the government and WHO to respond to any outbreak of communicable diseases. Shifa teams transfer the reporting mechanism and they develop the capacity of the local health department to continue the DEWS reporting on routine basis in the longer run.

Shifa is the only organization, which has reached the farthest to the vulnerable communities of Baltistan Region and is responding to the prolonged unmet needs and is rigorously developing the capacities of the health department on DRRM. State of the art services including but not limited to MCH Centers, implementation of electronic medical records system, Lab Pick-up points, Telemedicine Units, Comprehensive EmONC and Referral Services, advanced trainings of healthcare staff, community based sustainable health interventions like health education based curriculum are unmatched to the services provided under the scope of early recovery projects implemented in Pakistan by any NGO, post the 2010 floods emergency.

Shifa Foundation aims to serve communities from low-profile rural areas and is striving hard to provide humanitarian assistance in various dimensions. As a result, Shifa is not focusing only on a certain specialized medical fields. Our OPD services through static and mobile units are catering to hundreds of patients in one day. Shifa Foundation, in collaboration with WHO is also distributing medicines through OPD units.
